Mythology
Named after the princess Andromeda of Greek mythology, who was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to the sea monster Cetus. She was rescued by the hero Perseus, who turned the monster to stone using Medusa's head.
Observing Highlights
Home to the famous Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way and visible to the naked eye. Also contains the open cluster NGC 752 and the planetary nebula NGC 7662 (Blue Snowball).
