Mythology
A great celestial river, associated with the Eridanos river into which Phaethon fell after losing control of his father Helios's sun chariot.
Observing Highlights
The sixth largest constellation, winding from near Orion to far south. Achernar is a bright southern star. Contains the planetary nebula NGC 1535 and several galaxies.
