Mythology
The hero who slew Medusa and rescued Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus. He used Medusa's head to turn his enemies to stone. Algol represents Medusa's eye.
Observing Highlights
Contains the famous eclipsing variable Algol (Demon Star), the Double Cluster (NGC 869/884) — a stunning pair of open clusters — and the Alpha Persei moving group. Radiant of the Perseid meteors.
