Mythologie

L'Archer, un centaure bandant un arc. Souvent identifié à Chiron (bien que Chiron soit aussi associé au Centaure). Le centre de notre galaxie, la Voie lactée, se trouve dans cette direction.

Points Forts de l'Observation

Extraordinairement riche en objets du ciel profond. Contient M8 (nébuleuse de la Lagune), M17 (nébuleuse Oméga), M20 (nébuleuse Trifide), M22 (globulaire), M24 (nuage stellaire du Sagittaire) et bien d'autres objets Messier. Le centre galactique se trouve ici.
